This week I’m challenging myself to appreciate the unexpected. Life may not always make sense or seem fair. And, I may never find out why some things happen (or don’t) but I can hold on to the things I do know. Like how, when Adam unexpectedly got that job in Seattle, we spent a week driving across the country and had the time of our lives. We saw places that were so breathtaking they brought me to tears. Or, when I got into a bad car accident and it ended up preventing a horrible situation from being far, far worse.
I get caught up in wanting things to be a certain way. I want certain moments and life experiences. I want to not have some of the problems that I have. But, all of that wanting and not wanting leaves little space for appreciation. Some of the most beautiful moments and experiences I’ve had have come from the unexpected or unfair. It’s time I stop wanting and start appreciating. The good. The bad. The unfair. The miracles. All of it, no matter how difficult that may be sometimes.
If I could, I’d like to challenge you to do the same.
